Cameroon is the host country of OAPI (African Intellectual Property Organization) which is made up of Sixteen (16) member states. The law within this organization is guarded by the Agreement Revising the Bangui Agreement of March 02, 1977 on the creation of an African intellectual property organization signed at Bangui on February 24, 1999. The annexes to this agreement contain respectively, the provisions to be applied in each member state concerning: Patent, Utility model, Trademarks and services marks, Industrial designs, Trade name, geographical indications, literacy and artistic property, protection against unfair competition, of Layout designs of integrated circuits, plant variety protection. OAPI protects the aforementioned rights in the following countries; Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Cote D’ivoire, Gabon, Guinea Conakry, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal, Togo, and Equatorial Guinea.
